Getting the internet at my mom's place is like slogging through mud. and half dried cement. Wearing sandals.

Fortunately my laptop picks up SOME wireless from SOMEWHERE. but I think that makes it a bit vulnerable so I am trying not to use it. Of course that makes checking emails and grades a bit sporadic.

I got in grades for Spanish, African, and my horrible lab course... A, A, and AB respectively. Wooooohooo! this does wonders for my half sunken GPA. I don't think anything would have been like this if I had ended up keeping the math course, which makes me a liiiittle nervous for next semester, since I will be taking 6 courses, sitting in on one, volunteer tutoring for physics club, and practicing Karate. And volunteering for the blood drives. And whatever other stuff I can manage. Relay for Life would be good again, and the Undergraduate Research Presentation Symposium definitely (it's required for my research class anyway). And if I am really, really lucky, I might make it into the national conference on undergraduate research in north carolina and be able to present there. THAT would look good on my resume.

So, list o' things to do:

Rehaul the crablita environment
go to work and get my computer functioning there, learn how to program stamp chips, and don't panic.
do laundry
pack for the trip to Up There next week
Get Katiethewritingbuddy's xmas present... o.o eep
order all my textbooks from places OTHER than the cruddy expensive monopolizing student bookstore

So I've been going to bookstores lately. It's what I do. I love books. I stopped at the Frugal Muse only to see if they were having a sale (my sister got me a gift certificate to there, but I'm saving it to snag Terry Pratchett at a good discount), and I found Darkness Visible, one of my textbooks for Psych next semester. Then I went to Half Price Books east for their sale and snagged... $15 worth of books and the complete trilogy of Myst for another $15. Among the books I got were The eseential Confucious (I'm collecting religious tomes), two D&D books The Sister says I don't actually need -.- but they were a dollar so oh well, a book by Christine de Pizan that is not quite the one required for my Medieval Studies course, and Women's Lives in Medieval Europe, which IS required for the course. and is normally thirty dollars. and I got it for five. And also I snagged a text called A History of the Modern World, which turns out to be mostly about Europe, but it's still interesting. YAY for half price books.

That was not, of course, enough. Swung by the mall, stopped at Barnes and Noble to use up a gift card from last year, and snagged a treasury of foxtrot. yay for essential humor.

Then my mother and I hitched it out to Half Price Books west. woooohoo. They, too, were having their after xmas sale, so i snagged... let's see. A copy of the bible for a dollar (I don't actually have one yet). A Small Sound of the Trumpet (for Med. Studies, normally $15, now $5), Heloise and Abelard (not QUITE what I need for Med studies... but theoretically enough since it's only a recommended book); How to Learn C++ in 21 days (wellllll... it was only a dollar! how could I resist?) and some sherlock holmes on CD.

So basically I've been book splurging. Oopsy. That's what break is for, right?

Stories I'm currently working on.

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited)

***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel)

***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage)

***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit)

***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series)

***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly)

***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys)

***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting)

***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang)

***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!)
