To keep the next post from being uber long, I am making two separate posts. This one is ALL about my classes for next semester, which I am really excited for. If you are bored and don't want to hear it, go to the post below this for an update on real life stuff. I am going to be wigging out next semester but since there's no Nano and I seem to be in a non creative rut over frustration with my characters so I shouldn't be too distracted by writing, I might be able to get everything done. I am taking six classes, sitting in on one, volunteer tutoring for physics club, working (maybe extra hours! I need the cash), practicing karate, volunteering for blood drives, applying for REUs, and looking for housing. woooooo. *cringe* As far as classes go, I need 8 more SS credits, 3 more humanities credits, 2 bio credits, an ethnic studies course and a comm b course, ALL in addition to a) completing a physics major, b) the two courses on the side needed for an additional astrophysics major, and c) taking courses for an african studies certificate. I'm not going to declare the certificate yet in case I can't fit it in, but life would be SO much easier if I stayed an extra semester. Of course that kind of defeats the purpose of coming into college with 46 free credits, now doesn't it? Anyway, onto next semester's classes. Mondays I don't have class until 11; and then it is Physics 311, Mechanics; probably one of my most challenging courses. It involves differential equations, which I am decently bad at (but that's based off of an 8 week summer course that I simply didn't care about and wasn't curved in and I still managed to get a C). Of course it has been said that with the prof I have I will not learn anything but I will get an A. I am slightly inclined to believe that, if only to be horribly hopeful. So I don't know what to think about that except that I *can* learn and do physics. I proved that this semester. I don't know (yet) if I'm going to get a better grade this semester than last semesters but I have come out of it feeling like I know and have learned something and I am very excited for that. That class is over by 11:50; then I have a break (for lunch, and work?) until 1:20, when I have Introduction to Medieval Studies for Honors. This is a three credit humanities for automatic (H) honors, and it sounds interesting. I suppose I SHOULD have taken the course for the african studies certificate but ah well; maybe I'll branch out into mythology or something. So many interesting courses to take! It's hard to limit myself, but I know I am going to need my time this semester and following semesters. Wish my luck in getting everything done, eh? Anyway, that goes until 2:10; then I have a nice long break (to study Medieval Studies and Psychology and Math, and work) until 5:00pm, when I have my research class. That will be the usual typical 'read papers and talk about them, and prep occasional horrible projects for big presentations' thing that it has been for the last three semesters. I guess I can't wait to get out but I need it for the grade; it is easy to get an A in that class (the only easy class I've found so far here at the University) and I could use that to boost my gpa. Anyway, that's over by 6:00pm and then I will... *consults giant schedule* have a break for supper and whatever desperate homework I need to get done, and then proceed with Psychology study and, at 10:00pm, Karate practice (if I can get a hold of a key to the exercise room that late. I hope so) After Karate, it is homework until I *die* and study until I *wish* I could die and then maybe some Manga, or Anime, or MASH, or Firefly, before bed. Then bed. Tuesday it's an early rise at 9ish for a 9:30 power lecture. ickickickick. Math 340, which is Linear Algebra and Matrices. I don't know what to make of it. I had the class for ~two months this semester and dropped it because grades were based on one test and that test (which should have been easy) had a horrible grade, and I wanted to yoink my GPA up this semester (which I apparently have almost done). So... I imagine that it should be hard. But since I have had some sort of introduction to the topic maybe it will be easier? Then again... I don't know. I'll have to see. I'd really, really like to take it pass/fail so it doesn't affect my GPA but I am not sure if I can do that. I will look into it Directly after math is Psychology 281, Introduction to Psychology for Honors. It's another automatic (H) honors course, social science (which I need, badly), 4 credits. My sister took it with this prof before which is partially why I am taking it with him and she says as long as I do the reading I'll be fine. Lots of readings, though, so I will have to stay on the ball with that. It should be fairly interesting too. Psych is over by 12:15 so then it's lunch time and then the class I am sitting in on, Physics 301, or Physics Today. It's a once-a-week lecture about faculty research. Pseudointeresting (I took it last year and almost fell asleep in most of the lectures) but most of my friends from other classes are taking it for the first time this semester so that's worth it to sit in on. that runs until 2:10. Tuesday is, apparently, my long day, because I have a break until 6:00 pm for Psych and Math study, and then at 6:00pm to 10:00pm (more likely 10:30pm) I have the Physics 308 lab. It will be obnoxious and long and horrible but it's probable that I'll get an AB in it and it's a useful lab credit to have floating around so I should be okay. It is FAR better than taking 407, which is this treacherous lab course involving replicating 4 famous experiments from scratch and... 4-8 hours a week... just... horrible. I don't want to take 407. so 308 and two semesters worth of lab credit up in the ObsCos lab and I should be set. I don't see why 307 doesn't count as one but I will have to... observe. Anyway, so then I trek back up home and do any miscellaneous homework or studying for whatever classes I need to, and drop into bed. Wednesday is my ONLY early day; an 8:50 math discussion. That will be horrible but I will force myself to go. I cannot miss any class before spring break. It is simply not allowed. I imagine there will be quizzes and homework due in the discussion section so it will be important to go. Bee n almost a year since I had a discussion section. goodness gracious. o.o wow. Anyway, yay to that. Then I have an hour and 15 minute break in which to a) get breakfast or b) study math. More than likely both. This is followed by Physics 311 at 11am again, and medieval 185 at 1:20pm again. After that I have an hour break in which I will do Med. stud. homework and then it is Medieval studies discussion from 3:30 until 4:20. I'll work until 7pm and then tutor from 7pm to 8:30 (hopefully bringing supper with me). Then it's back up the hill for miscellaneous studying until 10pm, when I have Karate Practice again. Thursday is similar to Tuesday, except I only have morning classes. 9:30 Math, 11:00 Psychology, and at 2:25, discussion for Physics 311. Wow, that means I have discussion for ... half my classes. I don't think I've ever had so many discussion sections before. After that, however, I am free. Relatively. I'll work until 4:30, go to the physics club meeting then, and after that stay in the club room and volunteer tutor until 8:30 (again hopefully bringing supper with me so I don't starve to death while I wait). Karate practice at 10pm and goodly portions of studying in there, too. That brings us to Friday. Friday is a great day. I wake up at 9ish, do my laundry and study physics, go to physics class at 11, and then have lunch. Then I work from 1pm until 6pm, volunteer from 6pm or so to 8:30pm, and the rest of the night is mine. I plan on going to free art fridays just to have a little fun now and then, and I probably owe my saturdays to stefi and work, and sundays to homework and work, but there is some free-range freedom in there. woot woot. Joy. I love discussing my schedule. So some of my classes already have their syllabi online (or something like that). I wish more classes did. It would allow for better, earlier organization. Of course who likes to do that, besides me? mwahahahahaha... *cough* seriously, I need to check on my exams and make sure they don't overlap with any symposiums or anything like that. |

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited) ***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel) ***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage) ***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit) ***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series) ***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly) ***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys) ***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting) ***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang) ***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!) | ![]() |
