For those of you who notice or care, I've updated my list of webcomics--removed two that really don't update any more (that puts them on probation. If they don't start by the end of summer they're off the list entirely) and added the 5 or 6... or... so... :D new comics that I finished. I'm on a feminist comic binge of late and that which I have read is most rewarding. So, I am up in the ole homestead with my dad for a week. He is a bit of a grouchy guy and so macho he always has to be right--what is it with guys and having to be right? baah--but it is nice to see the city again. I've been hanging out with Stefi's friends, but they're fun too. Tonight, I see Robin! *squeal of joy* Tomorrow, pool party at a hotel. :) *another squeal of joy*. That should be amusing, especially considering that both Stefi and I left our swimsuits at home after planning this. DOH! So we went to Fashion Bug. Their swimsuits were $75, but a pair of exercise shorts and a beater shirt was $22, cheaper than any damn swimsuit that might fit me, so that'll have to do. Anyway, my grades posted. Things are not as great as I would have liked but they are still very very very good. A in MS, Psych, and Lab (!), AB in URS and Math (curses), and B in Physics (... *sigh* at least I passed. Durnit, but yay!) I miss friends. It's nice to see people up here and hang out with Stefi's friends who are cool and all, but I miiiiiss University friends. *prods them* And I won't get the chance to see them, since it will be "back to home for three days" and then off to the summer REU Stefi is here! : hi. (quoth she. Ain't she cute?) I've done a fair bit of reading lately too. Mostly Terry Pratchett. I went on a book buying binge last Monday and I can't possible list everything I got, but I did get the Earthsea series and some of the Thomas Covenant stuff (none of the beginning of the series; just two at the end). And I had a giftcard so I went to Barnes and Noble, too. It's hard for me to shop there because I know in some Half-Price Books somewhere I could get the darn stuff for cheaper, but you know, it's a gift card after all. I got Barbara Hambly's Circle of the Moon there, and Laurie R King... not the latest... something in red. And something else. I forget what. GOD I love books. So I found out who I'm working for over the summer. His name is Tom Megeath and he does star/planet formation stuff... Astronomy, by the looks of it. Nothing I've done before, but it truly looks interesting so I am excited. Got an email from him outlining the project, mostly in terms I don't fully comprehend. I shall have to reply to that, I suppose. I am very excited! I haven't been writing as much as I would like over the summer so far, but I did start working on the box full of papers that needs to be typed up or translated. That's always motivating. I even found the end of the scene where Ceolene finds out Listhan is dead. Mmmm... pretty. I am still looking for that chunk of demonstory I scribbled in a yellow-paged lab notebook somewhere in the distant past. It was pretty good stuff, and I want to work on that anyway... *scrounges* |
