So, reading my psych book reminded me of how talking or writing about traumatic stressful events helps make them less painful, helps ya deal with them and all...

Which is kind've what I miss about writing.

Not like I don't write anymore--I just don't.... write.... ever... anymore. Too busy. not enough time.

Actually that's not quite true. I wrote last week, when I should have been sleeping, late at night on monday, tuesday, wednesday... just very little bits of the Tbook story, which I had considered abandoning.

Why abandon Tasiha and the Tbooks?

well, she's a frickin cliche, and they rely on the use of 'ultimatums' by the author--ie, this is the way the world works.

But David Eddings uses cliches to his advantage (well, modified cliches) AND he works all over the frickin place with ultimatums. he gets around them by having characters discuss them.

Of course David Eddings' characters' conversations kind've suck. He tells, instead of showing. But you only notice that after the second or third time through....

I had such great plans for Tbook. It was going to change. No longer about Dark vs Light and Light triumphs in the end. Instead Dark and Light, the extremes, are both alien to the human soul, which by necessity must consist of gray. For a long time the ideology of the mages of the planet has been leaning towards Light, until the current Lord Mage--who is the earthly incarnation of Dark--takes over the Mage Council and tries to gradually introduce change.

Then along comes Tasiha--the earthly incarnation of Light--all unknowing of what she was made for, with a 'hole' in her chest (that'd be funny if it were a real hole... hahahah zombie flesh) that she seeks to fill with a variety of experiences. Some of these are dark, and some are light--the light ones overwhelm the dark ones and in fact almost burn them out entirely. This makes her panic and she locks her own darkness away deep on the other side of the hole, where even she does not know it exists--we later find out that the current Lord Mage has done the same thing with his experiences with light. Anyway, then she becomes completely affiliated with Light, sees what the Lord Mage is trying to do (gradually introduce powerful darkness as good) and kicks him out. The Mages go ballistic but there's something uncertain in their dreams--(note to self fix that such that they don't dream only of light, though perhaps they shun the darkness at first and then seek it in mild frightened curiosity)--so while they utterly support her they start to get confused.

it ends with something along the lines of, at a point in time Tasiha and the Dark dude meet and get in contact with each other, and this results in their becoming interwoven, intertwined--they start to blend. And each of their surreal counterparts panics and forces them to basically die and be resurrected in a purified form. But after that event the both of them cannot quite hide their nagging feelings of doubt. And at some point in time each carefully examines the place where the hole had been and finds an infinitely small gap that is not quite healed--that is scorched or darkened so badly that it is almost impossible to notice.

And Tasiha chooses to go to the Dark dude again and interweave--choosing the gray of life.

it's supposed to be a poignant ending, and all about how these sort've gods-chosen are affected by such a choice, and how they choose to be wholly human instead of partially deities...

meeeeeeeeeeeh. whatever. like I said, it's died a horrible death, kind've like my motivation to finish classes.

I remember reading some while back in your blog about light vs dark characters, and I like this plot you outlined in this entry a lots. I would probably like that book. And hey, it'll be summer in a few days and you can have time to *do* all of that writing, yes?!
I do understand the need to take breaks from stories. Sometimes being ntensely into them is good, but sometimes letting them be and coming at them from a faded perspective is a good way to feel some distance and objectivity about it.

Stories I'm currently working on.

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited)

***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel)

***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage)

***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit)

***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series)

***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly)

***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys)

***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting)

***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang)

***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!)
