There's this big stack of books to the right, just LOOKING at me... Firefly and Serenity AND two seasons of MASH in the closet... also looking... I've downloaded Karas, Ergo Proxy, and Black Lagoon... My new roommates/friends have a shitload of awesome movies... I promised I'd send Katie the story info so we could write together The list of 100 character questions for 100 characters is waiting for me... I wanted to work on a new pic/color scheme for my blog... so WHY am I not doing anything? seriously, here I sit at my computer, all lackadaisical and silly. What's wrong with me? raaaaaaaaawrgh... I'm in Toledo for the REU; this is my third day. Day 1 was move in, meet roommates and neighbors, and have fun. Day 2 was meet professor, tour campus, have fun with roommates and neighbors. Day 3 was fire drill times 2 in the wee hours of the morning, early wake up, not finding the book I needed at the library, work, tiredness, and then all you can eat pancakes and dollar-store shopping for random needed stuff with roomies/neighbors. So the situation here is kind've interesting. We're in a quad suite at a nicer dorm, so there are two rooms and four people, a living room and bathroom and shower. Next door are 2 guys and beyond them is another 4 or 3 or something. I forget. Those are the REU students, not including those who live off campus (sum total, 2 or 3, I forget). Roommate 1 is Shellie, who lives in the room with me. She's nice, friendly, outgoing, and hilarious. Has a boyfriend and gets totally flirted with by everyone. Roommate 2 is Amber, in the second of the two rooms. She is sweet, funny, kind, not as outgoing as Shellie but by no means a recluse. She also has a boyfriend and is horribly flirted with. Roommate 3 is Anna, who showed up at midnight of Day 1 with the Evil Bird named Ilya. She speaks russian (so does the bird) and loves birds (duh), sweet, a little less outgoing but not shy either. The bird isn't that evil. It just bites. hard. and chirps loudly on random occasions. The neighbors are all hot guys who all have girlfriends. Damnit. Except for one who is "taking it slow" and another that just doesn't. I flirt with them, they flirt with me--oddly enough, they flirt with me more than I'd expect a dating guy to do. At least one of them does. The few that I know best are Chris, Will, and Jason, then Chip, Bryan, and Paul, and then Chad and whoever else there is *waves hand*. Chris is really sweet--I thought he was shy at first but no, not really--just as soon as he starts to get to know you he's just like everyone else. Will is funny and gangly and knows all sorts of stupid awesome jokes and is very nice. Jason is the uber-flirt, but he's a sweetie, outgoing and kind. And that's the group, mostly. Oh wait, one key forgotten fact: THEY'RE ALL NERDS TOO! it's so nice to be among good company. We can tell physics jokes and not freak everyone out... revel in the desire to know the how and why.... bah... and all commiserate on how we're actually introverts even though we act like extroverts. |
