Mmmhmmm... what a lovely week it's been. First off: work. I meet with my advisor every day, which is a large incentive to getting things done, even if I don't fully know what's going on yet. I've been playing around in IDL (it's a touch iffy to learn, but I make do). So far, things are doing quite well, I hope. I also got an email from the REU student working on my project back home, asking for help/details. I gave a nice long email as best I could. Good luck to her in her endeavors, because I sucked at them Next: life around here. Not much going on. We played spoons, baked cookies, talked about theology a bit with Will (he's an agnostic atheist. I think my label of "I don't know" leans in that direction, but I could be wrong). It was slightly awkward but fortunately not much so because there was only the three of us, and the uberfundamentalchristiany person next door wasn't there. But mostly the making of cookies and the playing of spoons. In one round Anna and Will dove for a spoon and then the bird Ilya got transferred to Will's shoulder. There was mass panic. I tried to distract it with a spoon. I think that made it angrier. It got in two good pecks at the back of his neck and left marks! like if you took your fingernail and drove it into wood, only deeper and pointy-er. I'm surprised it didn't bleed. Bryan got pecked too by the chair--a nice red, open wound. Yowza. I keep trying to pet it because it lets Shellie pet it, but it keeps fending me off with the beak of doom. oi, bird I talked (aim) to Katy today. She is delightfully helpful in all aspects--the true definition of a wise woman. Thanks for your guidance, hon! I need to call my twin. *hugs her from afar* miss you! |
