The Topic of the Day is: Friday, July 07, 2006

So, in addition to the uber spiffy Pirates movie this morning (last night), I've watched three episodes of Record of Lodoss War. Which is peculiarly like a touch of sailor moon mixed with every SNES fantasy RPG in existence. + a villain that looks like something out of Dragon Ball Z. But it's all good so far ;) Except for the DVDs being such that I can't jump around mid-episode... so I have to sit through the intro everytime. Oh yeah, and the whole anime-crack scary chibi thing at the end of each episode.

That and the fact it's a bit stereotypical--oh, forget it, it's horribly stereotypical. There's not a hint of plot deviation or twist in it. No politics to keep me guessing. But ah well, a cute little straight forward fantasy isn't *too* bad.

While we're on the topic of amusement, Demonology 101 is joining the ranks of comics that are worthy of The List (Jackie should be overjoyed). To tell you the truth, I was worried that this would be one of those angsty high school blahdeblah's, but the presence of school in the comic proved to be an exceedingly minor influence, losing out in favor of, oh, I don't know--demons, angels, good, evil, faith and forgiveness, great artwork, family, hope, all sorts of good stuff ;).

Unfortunately, however, Demonology 101 is over, so that makes it the third on The List to be a non-updating comic, ie, not one that I check every day.

Fortunately, its author is working on a new series called Ice which is not finished and so can be read! joy of joys! it's a bit uh... well it comes with a rated R warning, but nothing can be more grotesque than the early days of Flipside and/or Poisoned Minds, and this one actually has great artwork to boot, so it's there.

What else is new? Off to the Rec Center in an hour to lift and go ellipticalling. Then errands, I suppose. How silly--today was my day for getting errands done and writing and I've done nothing at all.

Oh, by the way, does anyone know of Bittorrents other than Tokyo Toshokan? I want to finish downloading Gankutsuou but the version I got from Tokyo Toshokan doesn't ever start, some funny little error. grr...

Huzzah, I'm really glad you liked Demonology 101! I'm really enjoying Ice so far. It's really fun to compare her artwork in Ice to volume 2 of D101 and see how much she's improved - it's amazing!

Also, I procure most of my anime through LJ. If you're interested, I'm part of two communities - anime_downloads and animeyousendit or something like that - check my profile and there they are. It's easy to find stuff through the new 'tag' system. Just check the profiles of both communities - I believe at least one of them has all of Gankutsuou.

Stories I'm currently working on.

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited)

***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel)

***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage)

***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit)

***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series)

***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly)

***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys)

***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting)

***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang)

***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!)
