Be warned, this post has many pictures!

Finished my first rough draft early Monday morning. Joy :) I get to edit it tonight. if I'm lucky I'll also get to swim and watch V for Vendetta tonight.

So, yesterday was Cedar Point, which is this big roller coaster park in Ohio. Now, I hate heights. They freak me out. I don't even like tall buildings. But I promised myself I would go on a roller coaster because I was hanging out with the only group of people I'd ever go with. So I did!

They wanted to start on the Raptor,

which is this hanging thing that is quite freaky looking, and true to form I did freak out looking at it and refused to go. So we rode the Blue Streak

It looks freakier than it was. It is one of the smaller roller coasters and also probably the biggest that I rode (because I'm a chicken). The worst part is the drops. They feel so uncontrolled and freaky. I did scream (it relieves some pressure, makes me feel like I can do something about it). After I got out of that one (it had 4+ drops, crazy) I was kind of stunned and wandered around in a daze for a bit.

They wanted to go on the Raptor then but I refused, so I scurried off and rode the Wildcat
which looks wussy but is not. It is on this coaster that I discovered that I really like turns. Drops do suck, but turns and everything are fun and exhilirating.

I was too chickened out to ride the next one, the Corkscrew
. It's actually not tall at all but I was feeling queasy.

We took the train (hahaha) over to the other side of the park and rode the Mine Ride, which I think was my favorite.
It only had one drop that was... sort of small, but it had lots of twists and turns and it went quite fast. It did get stuck for half a minute at the top of one hill though, which freaked me out no end.

After that we wandered back over to the other side of the park and had lunch. Then we decided to take it fairly easy and rode the two water rides, Thunder Canyon
, which didn't have much in the way of drops but did soak Shellie under three different waterfalls

and Snake River Falls
which is pretty simple: up, turn around, straight down, and splash yourself and everyone else on the bridge with a whole heck of a lot of water. We all got soaked on this ride and once we were done we stood on the bridge and got soaked again. This was very pleasant since it was 3 or 4 pm and it was HOT out (over 95 degrees, I don't know exactly what).

Then they wanted to ride the Millenium Force,

the Magnum,

and the Mantis

--all large rides. The Mantis you ride standing up for some reason, don't ask me. I again chickened out and so did Paul, so he went on one of those scrambly teacup-like rides, Anna and Chris rode the Corkscrew again, and then Paul and I went to ride the Needle
or Space Spiral, I guess. It (and the Skyride) were closed because of the heat, so we rode this Disaster Tunnel ride or something like that that was pretty cool if dorky. It was very small (mostly twists and turns) but pretty much all in the dark, which gave it an element of the exciting. Not a lot in the way of drops though. Then we rode the Ferris Wheel (a very large one). The Needle was still down but we were able to take the Skyride back to the other part of the park where we watched people ride the Dragster.

The Dragster was perhaps the freakiest looking thing in the entire park. It is basically a very short ride: 0 to 120 mph in 4 seconds, get shot straight up, drop straight down the other side, and get slowed on the other end. Repeat. It was broken for a while (part of the starting mechanism), long enough that the enormous lines and lack of time meant that Amber and everyone wasn't actually able to ride it. So Paul and Will rode the Gemini,

Chris and Anna rode the Mean Streak,

and Shellie and everyone went back to do a few turns on the Raptor before the park closed. I hobbled my way to our meeting spot (the wet denim of my jeans having turned my inner leg into a raw and painful mess) and watched the Raptor before we headed home and collapsed back into bed.

And now, to work!

Oh yes, there were bumper cars in there somewhere. It reminded me of Burnout 3 and made me want to run into people in the car as we drove home.

All in all, I did have a lot of fun, despite the fear + leg pain. I don't think I'd ever go alone (this is really about hanging out with friends) and it would have been decidedly less pleasant had Paul not been kind enough to hang out with me for a good portion of the evening on the wussy rides. Maybe some future day I'll go to another roller coaster park and enjoy myself... and then again maybe not.

UPDATE: Joy, at work I have discovered that my inability to fix that rotten program is not going to be... a problem. I just have to finish my paper (and make it damn good too, I guess).

Stories I'm currently working on.

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited)

***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel)

***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage)

***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit)

***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series)

***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly)

***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys)

***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting)

***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang)

***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!)
