Jackie's suggestion: for every page of studying I get done, scribble ideas or scenes for about a minute and then continue. Good plan Jackie! *thumbs up* Why is Kedain giving birth at the beginning of the novel? this implies that she's married or the equivalent in that society. Maybe that's Kedain's mother. I kind of want the child to be taken to the dragons. Well, I really kind of want Kedain and Teverel to grow up together, mostly. I get the feeling Teverel is older than Kedain. I also get the feeling that the dragons get Kedain as the result of some sort of obligation, not from raiding. They are owed a child. Why? Is this a traditional thing (once every generation they get a child?) Is it the result of an incident? (someone took a dragon's life and so they get a human in return?)... is it a mark of respect or fear? Do the dragons train the children in magic (henduso-drinva.... drinva was a level or class, henduso was more like the people in general. are henduso the tribe (ethnic group?) that lives in the area of which they are part? Is it a profession? henduso being magic user, perhaps. drinva does sound like social class. Is Kedain's family higher, middle, or lower? that affects why they would have to give up a child. Do they give her up as in never get her back, or is it sort of an apprenticing thing?) Why do I see Kedain loosed amongst dragon eggs as a child? Straight out of Pern, ick. UPDATE: and then I kept writing for another hour and didn't get anything done. I fail :o |

Hah hah, Pern has a nasty habit of influencing everything I've ever written involving dragons. HMM. Anyhow, may I offer a suggestion to hone Jackie's? Wait until you're DONE studying, THEN add up the number of pages you did and do scribbled ideas/scenes for the equivalent number of minutes. It seems you'd be sort of interrupting the flow of your studying AND your brainstorming if you switche back and forth. But you probably already thought of that. Say hi to Louise from me, I miss watching Bleach with her...
