No Astro Seminar this week! But I have homework for it all ready (just an email thing, pathetically easy). I also have Physics homework all ready assigned, not due yet of course. I bought gym pants and shoes for fencing. I'm pretty excited. Snowing again. Purdy. *cough* so, all you people, raise your hand if you're stuck in a comfort zone? "When you're in a comfort zone, you're living a life that is not really satisfying but is too comfortable to give up. It's a life where you might be doing 'okay,' but it's a life that also consists of little self-confidence or self-esteem, no sense of pride, and no action or initiative. You are living risk free. The denial part kicks in because you lie to yourself about everything being great... You do it because by being in denail about the quality of your life, you keep yourself safe. If you admit that you want more, you are at great risk because now you have to go for more, and what if you fall flat? ... If you never admit that you want more, not having it won't be so painful. But once you admit it, there's nowhere to run and nowhere to hide. You don't get what you want living in the comfort zone, but at least it's not scary. That's why denial works. Here arer a few guidelines that you can use to determine whether or not you are stuck in a comfort zone: ~You're often bored with yourself ~You feel that your accomplishments are pretty worthless ~You think your daily after-school activities are mostly pointless ~You don't seem to enjoy things the way other people do ~You make promises to yourself that you never keep ~You have no goals ~You're a little scared ~You think your life doesn't have much of a purpose ~You never challenge yourself" Jay McGraw, Life Strategies for teens. Guess I'm not a teen any more, but this book is still amusingly helpful. Why the *hell* don't I try anything any more? I don't even try in physics; I don't even write. My two greatest passions, and I'm not passionate enough about them to poke them with a stick. I can't even get riled up about feminism any more. .... bah. |

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited) ***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel) ***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage) ***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit) ***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series) ***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly) ***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys) ***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting) ***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang) ***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!) | ![]() |
