Plans for this week and weekend:
0) Meetings. These aren't... plans. but they're required. I have a meeting with Maya this afternoon, some pages due to Nicole this evening, the research seminar on Wednesday (and reading/writing to do for it), the writing seminar on Thursday (and emailing Professor Roberts to do before it--aiii!), a meeting with my McNair fellow Ben on Thursday morning, and two GRE prep meetings on Saturday. Oh and Geek-kon on Sunday
1) do research! I have been skimping and procrastinating for two weeks now and I desperately need to get some research done. Since the cause, purpose, and general gist of my project keeps changing (broadly, it's historical women in physics, but narrowing down the modern connection and justification for the project, and the way to present it, is a challenge and a headache and complicated), I'm focusing right now on the actual research--looking at challenges women faced doing physics historically, explaining why those challenges came up, and possibly considering how they overcame them. So far I've made progress on Laura Bassi and Mary Somerville, and not much else. To work with me!
2) set up August things. I have to arrange a u-haul for moving in (and to do that I need to hear from my new apartment complex as to whether or not I can move in early) and various other apartmenty things (electric stuffs, the internet!); I have a conference to attend the day after I move in so I need to contact the other people who'd be going with me, make sure as to which days we will be up there, arrange to be able to be a driver, and arrange a hotel, and send in my registration for the conference; directly after the conference I'm going to go to MN, I hope, so I need to set that up with friends (MN friends: want to hang out with me on the 18th, 19th, 20th, and possibly 21st? the 18th is probably reserved for Jacki since it's the day after her birthday and we need to do some fun stuff! But let me know, call me); and I really wanted to go to Ren Fair, or do something with my family (doesn't look like Summerfest is going to happen this year, and besides it's a hassle)... anyway, lots of that to do
3) Geek-kon stuff. I have a long list of itty bitty things to do: posting on the forums for various things, determining which panels I want to do and who I could have on them with me, and etc; also gotta do more letters to companies about showing their movies at the con; also maybe some cosplay advertising? I don't know, I'm going to be busy, but not for too long
4) Exercise. MUST GO FENCING twice this week. MUST MUST MUST. also I should go to the gym and elliptical. grrrrrrr bad Jones.
5) Lab work. I couldn't find the piping I needed so I want to see if McMaster-Carr keeps records of things ordered under our req. number, and see if I can find what I need for less than $70. Also I need to get the internet fixed. Plus I have to set up the old computer so that we can program the stamp on it again, and this time take notes so someone else can do it too. I need to find a source program that reliably gives the az/el of the sun at date/time/location, see if the SRT website has updated info on interferometry software or make my own updates (aiiiI), and make another antenna probe.
6) Fun time for me! I want to read more of One Piece, watch all of Mushishi, finally finish Jyu Oh Sei, read Barbara Hambly, RPG with Stephen on Wednesday, movie night at the Lab on Wednesday, and Can't Stop the Serenity on Saturday night:

7) Finally, contacting people. I have to email my mentor, Melissa, Amy and Nicole, call Dad and call Jessi, and pay the neighbors for internet.
life is busy, but good.

I tried bookmooch and didn't like it, but this paperback swap rocks! Just call, anytime, and if I don't answer, I'll call ya back! But call my cell. We aren't home much. We're going to see Dad & Ryan this weekend!
Found you!
I WILL BE AT SERENITY!!! It'll be like old times. Also, re: your twin's inquiries- the farm I work at is very little and they're looking for people who aren't students to work there, because students always have to leave in August and they need folks through October, so I don't really recommend that Stefi apply to my farm in particular. However, there are a ton of farms in the area, many of which have larger operations and welcome student schedules a little more- she should check out Tipi Produce or Troy Gardens or Pleasant Hill if she's interested. Farming is hard work- I do it about 15-20 hours per week, but I do get paid at my job. The free produce is a really happy side effect, too.
