So I was poking through my writing last night and I realized it has been over a year since I worked on Tbook or Tasiha stuff. This put me to wondering whether or not I could salvage her and her story. At this point in time, I'm having particular trouble with the whole premise of the story: it relies too heavily on the idea of gods and goddesses and chosen ones, as it were (even though in the end the chosen ones decide that being chosen is pretty sucky and contrary to human existence because it requires being in the extreme of light or dark, without the shades of gray that all humanity has). And while I like that conclusion, it is going to be very difficult to do the following a) redeem Tasiha as a noncliche nonmarysue character b) refit the rest of the story to portray the conclusion the one thing I think I *can* do is save the world. Er. that sounds funny, but honestly it's probably one of the best worked out worlds I have--I know most of the continents, most of the countries, and even some of the politics, which is rare for me. I feel like if I sat down and worked on it I could totally redeem it and use it again. But I fear that the Tasiha that I have known and loved for so many years (holy crap, at least 9 years!) is irredeemable. I may take her name, I may instill her into the planet, but it can no longer be the story of her. Ironically, a long while ago I changed everything so that it was a story of her, because the world in which she was goddess/queen needed a rationale for her. It became the story of where she came from... and then it became cliche. Maybe if I write a story in which she's only a distant element, mentioned but not a character, she can still exist. And then maybe some day, after that story's published, I can revive her and try to tell the tale of where she came from once again. and maybe it will be better and not suck. Meanwhile, I have been thinking that despite the piratey trend in the world right now, I haven't really read many fantasy novels that are pirate based. Or at the least, water based! Even the Temeraire novels don't quite do what I have in mind. What would you say to a story about a woman who lives on a ship pretty much all her life... even her home village is a raft village (reminds me of something in Illusion of Gaia, and maybe part of The Golden Compass, but oh well). Maybe part of their society involves communicating with mermaids and dolphins and whelkies. I feel like it would be something fresh, even compared to the other novels out there. I don't have much besides that right now (though the Dragon Voices short story thing is going strong). But it might work... hmmm.... |

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited) ***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel) ***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage) ***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit) ***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series) ***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly) ***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys) ***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting) ***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang) ***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!) | ![]() |

Tasiha is like... a close friend. Even to me, as odd as that may seem :) P.s. I still have a copy of IT from 7th grade. We will have to peek someday. Love/Miss you.
