I spent a week up in MN, visiting family and friends, and turning my brain off. Then I spent some five days straight reading. I came out of my ... coma, as it were... yesterday at about 7pm, with a blinding migraine, a slight fever, dry lips, and the shakes. Made myself eat some soup (we're running low on food but I'm not shopping until the roommates come back), downed three tylenol, and went to sleep for ~12 hours. I woke up this morning feeling much better, but I didn't get anything done again. I'm not really in the mood for "feeling motivated and successful." I don't like playing that game. But I think when I'm done at the library here, I'll go pick up my sister, go out to supper, have a little fun, and then come home and clean my apartment like I've been trying to do. I read everything by Tamora Pierce that I own (that's all but the Protector of the Small series, and the last book in the Circle Opens, and Trickster's Queen because I haven't bought it yet, but I will!). I also did some Robin Mckinley (Sunshine, and Deerskin). I picked up a copy of Mairelon the Magician at an HPB up there and read through that. Pretty tasty, I'm not going to lie. A bunch of other stuff too, whatever I could shove down my gullet. Read too much Transmetropolitan. It's kind've addicting. I suspect I shall soon start swearing like Spider Jerusalem. Then I caught up on my webcomics and my One Piece. I may have been off my keister on a book-high but it was a wonderful one. Anyway, I've come to a few decisions here about my life: 1) I will continue to try to "eat healthy." Some healthy food is pretty delicious. I kind've like a good salad now and then (if it's got enough on it), and granola is tasty, and I really enjoy GOOD oranges and apples. Plus popcorn is pretty healthy, even if it is cheese popcorn and comes in a bag. And I don't have to give up all the stuff I enjoy anyway. 2) I'm going to keep exercising. Part of my book-fever stemmed from never leaving the apartment. Walking'll do me more good than I imagined. I want to go back to lifting weights but I don't know if I can make myself do anything in winter. The cold drives me into my room and makes me want to never leave, even if it makes me crazy. 3) I want to get published. I have 2 short stories and 1 article completed. They all three need editing, but I think with editing they *could* go somewhere. The article especially could be an eye opener, useful, and good for my career. Physics Today, perhaps? Or somewhere else? Discover? Scientific American? Maybe not. Maybe a history journal. Whichever. The two stories: one is fantasy, one is lit fiction. The lit fiction one is probably the one I have the most doubts about. I'm not sure anyone would want to READ anything about a teenager. Fantasy, I at least know what my market is, somewhat. What the hell would the lit fic go to? The fantasy, on the other hand, needs the most work. I need to sit down and hammer out the characters' backgrounds better, get a bit more of the world in grasp, and rewrite three or four big chunks of it. 4) I want to keep writing and reading, and train myself to use those as my rewards, my free time. I want to be more efficient at working and having free time so I don't feel goddamned GUILTY when I'm having fun, and so I can focus when I am actually working. by the by, story ideas piling up in my brain. Hard to keep up with. I want to focus on all of them. I want to go reread old work. But if I do that, I'm dead, I'll have lost it all. I need to WRITE Anyone want to join me for a daily writing exercise? 1 page or 1 poem a day. We'll set a time to do it. Probably in the morning :) 5) I want to get a tattoo. Seagull over Ginkgo Leaf. But I can't draw. Know anyone who can? $15 for a drawing I like. It's not a lot but hey, I'm broke. |

***Tbook1 (Time and Chaos, needs a new name, needs to be edited) ***Book of Sun (Just needs to be edited. Tis a Nano novel) ***Book of Whispers part 1 (Does not jive at all with part 2; needs to be rewritten to fit and to have less suckage) ***Book of Whispers part 2 (Needs some rehaul editing, needs some loose ends tied up, needs to fit) ***Book of Whispers part 3 (Needs to be finished... then needs to die o.o Not sure if I need a third part in the series) ***Dium's Story (Needs a point, progress, anything... needs to be integrated into Tbook1, since that is what it is a part of, mainly) ***Trio Story with Jackie and Louise (Maybe we should get together and work on this, guys) ***Demon Story (This is working out pretty good so far. I like the plot, it's a bit convoluted, and the characters are interesting) ***New Witch Story (It's only 30 pages long, dang) ***Dragon's Voices (This has SO much potential! wee!) | ![]() |
